Celebrity Read-A-Thon July 18th

The Berkeley County Library System is participating in a Celebrity Read-a-Thon on Saturday, July 18, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Read-a-Thon events are taking place at Daniel Island, Moncks Corner, Goose Creek and Sangaree Libraries.

In the Lowcountry, one in seven adults is functionally illiterate. This means they read below an eighth grade level and have difficulty completing a job application, reading and following instructions, reading the newspaper or a magazine.

These special programs are being presented in conjunction with Trident Literacy to demonstrate how important it is that one knows how to read. Won't you join us to share with the community the importance of being literate and knowing how to read?
