Library Seeks Enthusiastic Board Member
DISTRICT FOUR (4)
The Library is seeking an enthusiastic library supporter and community-minded individual to serve as a member of its Board.
If you reside in Berkeley County Council District Four (4) and are interested in helping to determine the future of library service in the county, we need you. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month, with the exception of December.
Attend the October Board Meeting to know more about it. The meeting schedule, through June 2013, is at the bottom of the page.
Responsibilities
According to the trustees’ manual published by the South Carolina State Library, the library board is responsible for the library and all that happens in it.
The Board members are charged with the following five (5) tasks:
· Promoting the library in the community and promoting the community as a member of the library board;
· Planning for the future of the library
· Monitoring and evaluating the overall effectiveness of the library;
· Setting policies;
· Hiring and evaluating the director.
